International  Students

SILC is a professional academic organization that provides English language training and cross-cultural education. The Intensive English Program is a 25-hour per week program that prepares students for academic success in their University coursework.

Students who meet the academic and financial requirements of the U of A, but not the English proficiency requirement will be conditionally admitted into the University of Arkansas and will attend the intensive English program before beginning their regular academic coursework.

International students at the U of A will feel at home from the moment they set foot on campus. Resources especially for students are only a few steps away.

Many countries have student groups as well, including Vietnam, Bolivia, Pakistan, and many more, so international students can find others who share and celebrate their culture.

Dozens of student organizations exist at the U of A, allowing anyone to find a community. Organizations may be based around interests, academic field of study, religion, and more.

“The U of A became my home away from home since day one! Being an international student can be hard especially because of how far you are from your family, but this place made me feel welcome! I have made the best memories and have met the most amazing people here. I wouldn’t change this experience for anything else! Once a Razorback, always a Razorback!”

– Ania, B.S. Biomedical Engineering
   student; Honduras

“When I was applying for a [Fulbright] scholarship,

I named the University of Arkansas as my

first choice for a PhD program in Biological

Sciences. I was intending to work with my now

major professor/advisor, who is one of the most

productive researchers in my field of specialization...

The stunning scenery and outdoor recreational

pursuits were just a pleasant surprise.”

The amazing programs have had an invaluable impact on my professional development and leadership skills; the faculty provide endless opportunities
and support.”
